Is that a laptop in your pocket?

I have recently decided that my Dell Inspiron E1705 does not suit my needs. Originally I bought it as a desktop replacement and basically used it to play World of Warcraft. It is time to stop lugging this thing around and buy something that is a little more portable.

Since starting this blog, I keep thinking that one of these days I will be out on some vacation and need to blog my adventure. For the last week, I have been on a quest to find a laptop that allows me to pick up and go. I didn’t have to look too hard to find a suitable laptop. The main factor was the price. After a quick search I was immediately drawn to the Asus EEE PC.

Normally I would wait for a sale but I decided to just jump right in because of the mods that people have done. For now I will stick with messing around with different operating systems and slowly accumulate the hardware for the internal mods. So far I have purchased 2×8 GB thumb drive, USB bluetooth adapter and a USB hub. I know while traveling things get left behind so the goal is to have everything soldered internally and not have to bother with attaching any device. With the help from eeeuser.com and a friend who can solder very small things I hope to get everything done in a couple weeks.
